Troubleshooting Power Issues

This page outlines how to diagnose and fix power-related issues for the OV80i system.

note

The camera does not support PoE. Power must be supplied via the dedicated Power & D I/O cable using a 19–24V DC power source.

Common Symptoms

  • No LED activity when power is applied
  • Camera keeps rebooting unexpectedly
  • Excessive heat near connectors or casing
  • No response to trigger or web UI access

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Verify Power Supply

  • Use a regulated 19–24V DC adapter (e.g., 65W 19V PSU)
  • Confirm voltage with a multimeter before connecting
  • Ensure correct wiring using the pinout below

Power Pins to Check (on Power & DIO cable):

Pin #Wire ColorDescription
7White/Green+24V Input (Vin+)
8Pink, YellowGround (Vin−)

2. Check Cable & Connector Fit

  • Use only the M12 circular power connector (3m, p/n 1700033944-01)
  • Align the notches and securely fasten the threaded collar
  • Make sure the connector is fully inserted before powering on
warning

Do not power the camera via USB-C or HDMI or POE. These are not power inputs. HDMI now provides a read-only HMI display, and USB-A/C are reserved for future/support use. Use only the M12 power connector for power.

3. LED Behavior Check

4. Try Alternate Hardware

  • Swap in a different power adapter (19VDC, 3.42A recommended)
  • Try another Power & DIO cable if available
  • Disconnect any connected devices (PLC, sensors) and power the camera alone

5. Use the Reset Button

  • Short press (Pin 4 to Pin 9): Reboots the camera
note

Only perform a reset with the cable properly seated and power applied.

Still Not Powering?

If the camera still shows no signs of power:

  • Double-check cable orientation and seating
  • Test with another known-good camera setup
  • Contact Overview Support with:
    • Power supply details and voltage reading
    • A photo of the M12 connector in use
    • Any visible LED behavior or overheating notes
